Application of Gripseal Classic Interior water-based sealant

Step 1:

Ensure that the surface is completely free from dirt, oil, grease and or solvents.
On new wood, sand until the surface is smooth with 120 grit sandpaper.
Always sand in the direction of the wood grain.
On previously varnished or oiled surfaces, remove old coat by sanding or by using a paint stripper.

Step 2:

Stir contents thoroughly
Use Gripseal sponge brush, paint brush or spray gun to apply.
For best results and a silk finish, apply 2 thin, even coats. Give a light sand between the first and second coat, with 30 minutes between coats and 12 hours for the sealant to cure completely. Do not apply in direct sunlight.
When applying a stain/sealant on interior surfaces, like a dinning room table or desk, a silk, even finish is required or preferable. For this reason we recommend the Gripseal range of sponge brushes. Due to the specific design and quality of the sponge, you’ll achieve a smooth, even finish with no streaks or colour variations that is comparable to a spray job.

Step 3:

Clean applicators with clean water directly after application.

Please note: Contrary to normal thought, the thinner the coats the better, as thinner coats result in deeper penetration and longer durability and performance.
